Bike Rack Hitch Extension

If you're driving a vehicle that has a spare tire on the back or your hitch is mounted deep under the rear bumper, the 7" Hitch Extension is a perfect solution to allow you to carry a bicycle rack, or other towing product on your vehicle.  Constructed of solid steel, the hitch extension is designed to work inside of a 2" receiver hitch only.

Cracks And Racks

  • Overall length of 12"
  • Extends existing hitch 7½" (bolt hole to bolt hole)
  • Works on 2" receivers only
  • Does NOT include Pin and Clip

When using this hitch extension for a bike rack, it is IMPERATIVE that you install anti-sway bolts and nuts to prevent wobble in the extension. Failure to do so may result in metal fatigue and catastrophic failure.
We recommend exclusively the Softride 25219 Tightening Hitch Pin for this application.

Carry more than two bikes on your Wrangler!Review by Cracks & Racks - Brandon

I sell one of these to almost every customer with a Wrangler, looking for a bike rack that carries more than two bikes. The extension allows the hitch to get out from under the large, sometimes oversized, spare-tire. This allows the bike rack to be properly inserted into the hitch and the tire wont interfere with the mechanisms of the bike rack. Plus, it does not limit you to a couple of bike rack options for the spare-tire. You can now select from almost any hitch mounted bike rack. This product gives you options!

It is nice to pair it with Softride's 25219 Tightening Hitch Pin. This will not only lock the extension to the hitch, but it will also take out the wobble, so your bikes are not slamming around.

TIP: This is steel and will rust. Remove when not needed. (Posted on 10/21/2016)
