Yakima Vertical Mighty Mounts

If your vehicle is equipped with a factory roof rack, that has a crossbar running from side to side on the vehicle, you can mount a ski rack directly to that crossbar using the Vertical Mighty Mounts. These clips are shaped to exactly match the contours of your factory crossbar. You must use the Yakima Fit Guide to determine which Mighty Mounts will work for your vehicle. Yakima has discontinued the Vertical Mighty Mounts for ski racks effective January 2012. We do have a limited quantity remaining in stock. Fit & Installation Tips

Generally speaking, factory installed roof racks are not as strong and versatile as mounting a Yakima or Thule Multi-sport rack system. In other words, their weight capacity and functional bar space are limiting factors. However, most factory crossbars are totally adequate for mounting ski racks to them because of the minimal weight and aerodynamic, low profile configuration when loaded.
